Investigación cardio-renal de la ERA-EDTA y la European Society of Cardiology



La prevalencia de enfermedad cardiovascular en pacientes con enfermedad renal crónica está bien establecida. Más de la mitad de todos los pacientes con insuficiencia cardíaca tienen enfermedad renal crónica moderada o severa. Ambas afecciones son susceptibles a los mismos factores de riesgo, que incluyen diabetes, hipertensión, edad e historial médico familiar. Estos factores de riesgo compartidos pueden ser la causa de la relación entre enfermedad renal y cardíaca, y durante mucho tiempo se ha asumido que las causas compartidas claves (diabetes e hipertensiòn arterial) son las responsables.
Esta colección de papers ofrecidos, destaca una selección de las últimas investigaciones sobre temas cardio-renales y su tratamiento publicados tanto por las revistas de la  Asociación Renal Europea - Asociación Europea de Diálisis y Trasplante (ERA-EDTA) y la Sociedad Europea de Cardiología (ESC).
